On this fine ST. PAT’s Day, my last Outside the Margins column for Prism Book Alliance runs. I natter on about a variety of subjects and recommend two books, Imago by N. R. Walker and Clean Slate by Heidi Champa. Both are unique and imaginative–or quirky, if you will. Since I’ll be abandoning the format I established at Prism when it closes at the end of the month, I thought I’d adapt it here.
How do I get involved in these things? That question has been a mantra my entire life, espeially as I stand poised to do something outside my comfort zone. What’s going on? Well, my friend and fellow author J. Scott Coatsworth created a group for Sacramento writers of gay fiction called QSac. He and I approached Sacramento’s Lavender Library and suggested an evening of milk and cookies for library patrons to meet the QSac group. It all sounds great, right? But, but, what are we going to do? Good question. Fortunately, we’re meeting at Dantorel’s Cafe today to discuss this, and with any luck (it’s St. Patrick’s Day, right?) we’ll come away with a plan.
However, if you’re in Sacramento on Sunday, March 19, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., do drop by the Lavender Library to talk to us. While you’re at it, have a cookie and some milk, too!
Following the Dreamspinner Press author retreat, I’ve come away excited about a new project as well as this year’s Foothills Pride releases. I’m working on a new possibly 3-book series set here in Sacramento in the Land Park area. I can’t tell you more because this is all on spec at this point. But suffice it to say that I’m really pumped up about it and will be working away at getting the first few chapters done and plot points list readied to send in soon.
This summer FRANK AT HEART (#6 of the Foothills Pride series) releases. I asked my husband to take some photos of foothills hardware stores when he went with his photo group to Placerville last week because FRANK begins in a hardware store. He came back with some terrific photos including the one you see in this blog post. Hopefully, cover artwork will begin soon so that I can post a release date. Until then, I’ll post a preview of it next week on this site. Until then, have a great St. Paddy’s Day and drink all the green beer you can hold.
